The patterns for these two accessories, a pair of mittens and a hat in both children and adult sizes, that we designed for REDD BARNA (Save the Children Norway), using Norwegian yarn from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk in 2018, are now available for purchase in our webshop! We donate 10% of all the net proceeds to REDD BARNA, to support the important work that they do for children in need all over the world.

Kits are also available for purchase with 10% of the proceeds also being sent to REDD BARNA. You can get the kits in Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk’s webshop in the following colours (Click on colours to order): Dark Grey, Green, Pink Turquoise

Description

Suggested Yarn: Ask ullgarn, 100% Norwegian woo, 100 g = 315 m / 344 yds. Ask is a high quality 2-ply wool yarn made from Norwegian long staple wool.

Gauge: 24 sts and 30 rnds in stranded colourwork in st st using 3.5 mm/US 4 measures 10 cm / 4 inc square. Adjust needle size as needed to match gauge.

Needle Size: 3 mm/US 2.5 Double Pointed Needles (DPNs), 3 mm/US 2.5 and 3.5 mm/US 4 circular needle 40 cm/16”, 3 mm/US 2.5 and 3.5 mm/US 4 circular needle 80 cm/32” (plus 4 mm/US 6 – if you work stranded colourwork with a firm gauge).

Sizes Available for Mittens: The Mittens are available in a child size (8 years old) and in Adult sizes: S and L.

Sizes Available for Hat: The hat is available in one size for Children and 1 size for adults. Note: You can make a larger hat by using a larger needle. If you use a smaller needle size the hat will be a bit smaller.
