This is one of our most popular designs. Originally, we made the bear Såve for our book “Norwegian Knits with a Twist”. The idea was to use Setesdal patterns in a new way, on items other than sweaters.
We’ve revised the pattern for the teddy bear, because the old bear was knitted with one strand and omitted some stitches needed to balance the motifs. You can say that this is an updated version of our teddy bear—Såve, version 2.0.
We like how the colorways now match on both legs, arms, and ears. To achieve this effect, it’s important to follow the row sequence in the instructions when knitting the parts of the body.
Suggested Yarn: Regia Design Line by ARNE & CARLOS 4-ply (fingering weight). 75% Virgin Wool and 25% Polyamide.
Gauge: 30 stitches and 42 rows per 10 cm
Needle Size: U.S. size 1.5 / 2.5 mm: 16 in / 40 cm circular and set of 5 dpn
